World XTL Summit 2011 offers renewed optimism for gas, coal & biomasss to liquids sector
The World XTL Summit 2011, the 11th in an annual series, took place on 7-8 June at the Hilton London Tower Bridge and the organisers reported attendance up from previous years. Organisers CWC welcomed delegates from 27 countries to discuss the new solutions and opportunities for realising concepts in the gas, coal and biomass to liquids industry.
Highlights included Mike Nel of Sasol giving his perspected on the global XTL potential and improve the value proposition as well as the latest on Pearl GTL from Executive VP Andy Brown, who pointed out that this US$20bn investment is scheduled to reach full production by mid-2012.
Apart from insights into technology breakthroughs from leading industry innovators and project updates on small-scale initiative, the event also presented new strategies for driving the sector’s commercialization. The IEA offered market perspectives and the shale gas boom was brought into focus.
During the XTL Award Gala Dinner, hosted by GTL.F1 on board of the Silver Barracuda, CompactGTL won the CWC World XTL Award 2011 for their contribution and innovation to the XTL industry. Representing last year’s recipients Susan Robertson, CFO, Oxford Catalysts Group presented the Award to Nicholas Gay, CEO, CompactGTL.
Overall, the World XTL Summit offered renewed optimism for the future of the gas, coal and biomass to liquids industry.
