Theindonesiatoday.com -Mitsubishi Corp plans to start construction of coal gasification plant in Sumatra Island this year.
The company, according toWidjajono Partowidagdo, deputy energy and mineral resources minister, has offered energy price of US$0.1 per kWh. “We will meet them this week for further details,” said Widjajono.
According to Widjajono, Mitsubishi plans to start construction of the facility this year, which will process low-rank coal into gas.
Last year, Evita Legowo, director general for oil and gas, said that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd is interested to build a coal gasification plant in Sumatera and might start the construction by the end of 2012.
“Output from the plant is expected to replace gas supplied by ConocoPhillips to Chevron operations in Sumatera,” Evita said that time.
According to Evita, a deal with Mitsubishi will be reached this year, and the coal-to-gas plant could operate in 2015. (Indonesia Today)
